Bring your lawn chairs and join us for the 56th Annual Neihardt Day on Sunday, August 1, 1-3 p.m. Lunch for purchase ($9) will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Led by Master of Ceremonies Ron Hull, we'll spend the afternoon celebrating the influence of nature on Neihardt's writing, and have a ceremony to re-plant the Tree of Life at the center of the Sacred Hoop Garden (the previous one was damaged in a storm). Jack Phillips of the Naturalist School will be our speaker and lead the planting ceremony. We're thrilled that Nebraska's first Youth Poet Laureate, Mimi Yu, will join us to read her poetry. To end the day, a quartet from the internationally known Pathfinders Chorus will perform.
This free event will be held outdoors on the beautiful grounds of the Neihardt State Historic Site in Bancroft. In case of rain, the event will be moved indoors.
