Author of Black Elk Speaks and numerous other works of prose and poetry, John G. Neihardt is the Poet Laureate in Perpetuity of Nebraska. To commemorate his life and work, the John G. Neihardt State Historic Site was established on the site of his former home in Bancroft, Nebraska.

38th Annual Neihardt Spring Conference

The theme for this year’s full-day conference is “Neihardt On…”  The program will include presentations by:

  • Timothy Anderson–Neihardt On:  Contemporary Poets –  Friends and Rivals
  • Neil Harrison–Neihardt On:  Synchronicity and the Social Sciences
  • Dr. Pamela Gossin (Keynote)–Neihardt On:  Spirits – Nature Seers & Early 20th C. American Eco-philosophy
  • Robin Neihardt–Neihardt On:  Humor, Family, and the Human Condition

Registration is $25 or $10 for students.  A catered lunch will be provided (for $10) at the Bancroft Community Center.  If you plan on eating lunch with us at the Community Center, please register by Tuesday, April 23, 2019.  To register, please contact the Neihardt Center at 402-648-3388 or 888-777-HOOP or click on the Brochure link below to print and return the registration form.

Same-day registration will be accepted.  However, pre-registration is encouraged by Tuesday, April 23, 2019 to streamline check-in the morning of the conference.

Author books will be available for sales and signing.

Refreshments provided free of charge during the morning and afternoon break.
