Author of Black Elk Speaks and numerous other works of prose and poetry, John G. Neihardt is the Poet Laureate in Perpetuity of Nebraska. To commemorate his life and work, the John G. Neihardt State Historic Site was established on the site of his former home in Bancroft, Nebraska.

Beer, Wine & Limerick Festival
Aug 26 @ 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm

The John G. Neihardt Foundation invites you to downtown Bancroft for an evening of specialty brews, wine and appetizers paired with limericks at the Bancroft Community Hall (502 Main Street) on Saturday, August 26th from 6:00 p.m. – 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person. Must be 21 or older; designated drivers are admitted free.

This annual fundraiser directly supports the John G. Neihardt State Historic Site, a branch museum of the Nebraska State Historical Society in Bancroft, Nebraska. For more information, contact: (402) 648-3388 or e-mail: neihardt@gpcom.net.

18th Annual Laureate’s Feast
Nov 12 @ 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The John G. Neihardt Foundation will host the 18th annual Laureate’s Feast dinner and auction fundraiser on Sunday, November 12th from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. in the Swanson Conference Center at the Fort Omaha Campus of Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska.

The event will feature the presentation of the Neihardt Foundation’s 2017 Word Sender award to Tim Anderson. Anderson is the author of “Lonesome Dreamer: The Life of John G. Neihardt” published by the University of Nebraska Press.

The evening event will include a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception with musical entertainment, a gourmet meal prepared by the Metro Community College Institute of Culinary Arts, plus live and silent auctions.

Reservations are required. A portion of the event ticket is tax-deductible and all proceeds of the fundraiser directly support the John G. Neihardt State Historic Site. For information and reservations, contact by e-mail: neihardt@gpcom.net or by phone: : (402) 648-3388.
